98% Of People Die Without Fulfilling Their Dreams
I read an article once that said 98% of people die without ever fulfilling their dreams.
Which means only 2% of people DO chase, fulfill, and realize their dreams.
And one of the most common reasons for this?
FEAR OF FAILURE…
And we have all been guilty of this at some point in our lives, right?
We want something soooo bad, but we are terrified of failing or looking stupid or being bad at it…
So we make up all these reasons for why it WOULD NEVER work.
We say – “Well that person had all the right opportunities at all the right time”…
“That person is just insanely talented, I’m not talented like that”…
“That person got a lucky break”…
“I COULD NEVER BE THAT LUCKY”.
But I call bullshit.
I believe that every single person IN THE WORLD is fully capable of starting a business – and having that business be very successful.
Maybe you won’t be the next Oprah or Steve Jobs or J.K. Rowlings…
But you could easily make more money than you ever thought possible…
…and live a life you’ve always dreamed of.
So if every person is CAPABLE of being successful…
Then why do over 90% of new businesses fail?
We’ll get into that later.
First – let’s talk about the GOOD NEWS.
The good news is…
If you want to become part of the 2%…
You don’t need to possess any special skills that no one else has…
You don’t need to “get lucky”…
You don’t need any specific degrees…
You just need to be on board with one or more of these four things:
#1 You Have A Hobby/Passion
Be honest… are you actually happy with the work that you’re doing right now?
Does it light you up and fill your cup?
Or are you going to work dreading each day – feeling bored, resentful, and unfulfilled?
What if you could start a business doing something that you ALREADY love?
Pursuing a passion, or a hobby…
Meeting a need in your community and HELPING people improve their lives?
Maybe you love finding old beat-up antique furniture and giving it new life…
Maybe you’re obsessed with gardening and have perfected a method for getting the best, longest-lasting blooms…
Maybe you watch every single NBA game, know all the players by name, and can ramble their stats off the top of your head…
Maybe you’re the go-to person for advice in your friend group and you LOVE holding space for other people’s emotions and struggles…
Maybe you love painting…
Or making hats…
Or baking sourdough…
ANY of these things could be turned into a profitable business – as long as you’re smart about it and take the right steps (which we’ll get into later)
Just think about how your life would look if you got to wake up each and every morning and do something you genuinely enjoy doing.
#2 You Want More Financial Freedom
As much as I hate it when people make starting a business about money…
There’s no denying that there are HUGE financial pros to doing your own thing and being your own boss.
So many people today are living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to make ends meet.
What would change about your life if you could pay off all your debt? If you weren’t stressed out about money or how you would buy groceries this month? What if you could finally afford that family vacation?
And you don’t even have to start a “big” business in order to start creating this financial freedom.
What would it be like to have an extra $500, $5,000, or $15,000 dollar a month?
#3 – You Want More Freedom With Your Lifestyle
This was probably the number one reason I started my freelancing business back in 2012…
I was tired of being chained to a desk…
Following someone else’s schedule, punching the clock each day, asking for time off, and trading money for time…
I CRAVED freedom.
I wanted to be able to travel to Italy on a whim…
To wake up when I want to, have a nice slow morning, and start work when I am ready…
To be able to take a 2-hour lunch break if I want to…
To be able to flex my schedule around my appointments…
To never miss another family get-together or outing with my friends…
When you are your own boss YOU get to intentionally create every aspect of your life.
Where you’ll live, how much you’ll work when you’ll work, when you’ll take time off, and even how much money you’ll make.
#4 – You Want To Make An Impact
There is a Chinese saying that goes: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”
As humans, we have this undeniable urge to HELP OTHERS.
We feel good when we support a peer through a tough time…
Donating – whether it’s our time, money, or skills – makes us feel great.
We jump at the chance to share the knowledge or resources we’ve gained in order to help someone else solve a problem we previously went through.
Positivity impacting the lives of others has been shown to make us happier, give us a sense of purpose and meaning, and even lower our blood pressure.
EVEN THOUGH being a business owner can oftentimes be more stressful than a traditional 9-5 job…
Entrepreneurs STILL report consistently higher rates of happiness than wage-earning employees.
Why?
Because they are doing what they love and helping others – and they feel FULFILLED.
Forget about the money you could make…
Forget about the time you’ll get back in your schedule…
And just focus on the fact that you will feel happier and more fulfilled in your life.
Isn’t that alone enough of a reason to start that business? To chase that dream?
Why 90% Of New Businesses Fail
Now it’s safe to say that MOST OF US can probably tick most, if not all of these boxes…
So why then do 90% of new businesses fail?
Simple.
Because they go in without a plan, have no idea if their business idea is any good, have no idea WHO their market is, have no idea HOW to sell, they hodge-podge some pieces together, try to wing it for a while, and when they start to hit roadblocks (which everyone does) they give up.
