But that’s quickly changing.
TikTok just became the FIRST non-game app to generate $10 billion in consumer spending in the Apple and Google Play stores…
Social media marketers report that TikToks have resulted in their highest ROI this year…
It reached a record-breaking 1 billion users in four years – a milestone that took EIGHT YEARS for both Facebook and Instagram to hit.
And with more and more generations joining Gen Z on TikTok…
It’s becoming harder to ignore TikTok as a powerful tool for growing your personal brand or business online.
So, if you’re like me and want to explore TikTok in 2025…

She was able to grow by 470,000 followers in just one year. What she said really blew my mind. It CONVINCED me that I needed to start showing up on TikTok regularly…
BUT, well, life happened. I got busy focusing on other things in my business and let my brief TikTok obsession fall to the wayside.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve dabbled a bit here and posted a bit there and have managed to grow to just under 20k followers from just that.
But I haven’t gotten SERIOUS about TikTok as a marketing platform.
Well, that’s going to change in 2025.
My team and I have been doing TONS of research on TikTok Marketing to prepare for our 2025 TikTok takeover…
And in this blog, I’m going to share with you everything we’ve discovered.
From the reasons why you HAVE to be on TikTok, to the best way to grow your audience fast and so much more.

Before we dive into WHY you should be on TikTok and HOW my team and I are planning to approach our TikTok strategy in 2025, let’s address the elephant in the room…
Is TikTok Getting Banned?
The looming ban of TikTok in the US has been a hot topic for years now. And Canada very recently banned TikTok operations here in Canada which some are saying is a step towards a total ban…
As for the US, President Biden signed the TikTok ban in April of 2024. Which would require TikTok’s China-based parent company to sell the platform by January or be banned from U.S. app stores.
TikTok is currently challenging the law in the courts and Trump says he OPPOSES a federal ban on TikTok and will NEVER ban TikTok.
So who freaking knows…
But, it’s been 5 years of back-and-forth on this. Meanwhile, businesses are cashing in on TikTok marketing.
So why not take FULL advantage of what the platform has to offer you RIGHT NOW?
Now, with that out of the way, let’s talk about WHY you should be TikTok if you’re trying to grow your personal brand or online business…
Why TikTok Marketing?
There are two big reasons why every brand should consider hopping on the TikTok train…
1. TikTok Shopping Is Huge
Does anyone remember the #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt trend that start a few years ago?
Yeah, well there are currently 11.2 MILLION posts using this hashtag…
71.2% of TikTok users say they purchase something on TikTok THE MOST when they just “stumble upon it on their feed”…
And by 2026, the platform is projected to increase in purchases from the app by 67% – reaching a total of 39.5 million buyers.
This means if you want to increase sales through social media marketing…
TikTok is one of the BEST platforms to be on.
2. Easier To Get Discovered
The TikTok algorithm seems to work differently than a lot of the other social media algorithms. It focuses more on content DISCOVERY rather than only or mostly showing you content from your friends.
TikTok users have a totally separate feed to see content from the people they already follow…
And the entire “For You” page on TikTok is dedicated to discovery.
This means TikTok gives brands and businesses a GREAT opportunity to reach a wider audience and get discovered more quickly.
Speaking of getting discovered more quickly..
Let’s talk about HOW.
How To Grow On TikTok In 2025
Well here is everything we found in our research about growing on TikTok:
- Create specifically for TikTok
- Edit your videos right in the app
- Keeping your videos short & sweet
- Use keywords & relevant hashtags
- Post a heck of a lot
1. Create for TikTok Specifically
So when it comes to creating content for social media, many of you probably know that I am a BIG fan of “one and done” content video shoots.
I like to go to my studio once every couple of months, sit down and record dozens of videos, and then repurpose those videos across ALL of my social media platforms.

BUTTTTT….
This repurposing strategy does not work very well TikTok.
Repurposing Instagram Reels on TikTok only goes so far – ask me how I know!
Yes, that’s the main strategy we’ve been trying over on TikTok…
And while it hasn’t been totally ineffective, its results aren’t that great either.
WHY??
Because the vibe of TikTok is a totally different ball game.
It’s less “perfectly curated and edited” and more “show up as you are – even if you’re a hot ass mess”.
The difference between the typical aesthetic angle and composition of instagram content vs the very organic “talking to a friend” angle of TikTok.
So while on one hand this might sound like bad news because you’re thinking: “Ugh, great. Now I have to create videos for TikTok SEPARATE from the other videos I already hate creating?!”
I hear you.
But here’s why it’s not as bad as it seems…
Because I actuall think the casual type of videos work well on ALL short-form platforms.
You can film on your phone, at a poor angle, and ramble for 30 seconds and it could be a viral sensation lol.
Less is more when it comes to TikTok videos.
But that doesn’t mean LOW QUALITY.
You still want your videos to be good quality videos. They just don’t need to be formal, professional or overly edited.
And speaking of editing your videos…
That brings me to the next way to grow on TikTok fast…
2. Edit Right In The App
The TikTok algorithm seems to prefer promoting TikTok-edited videos more than others…
The app has a ton of editing features built-in.
You could do things like:
- Filters
- Trimming video clips
- Text overlays
- Captions
- Stickers
- Visual and special effects
- Voiceovers
- Audio editing
- Slow motion
- Transitions
Which makes it super easy to film, edit and post all in one go without having to spend hours or weeks on the process.
AND your chances of getting discovered are possibly higher.
Alright the next tip for growing on TikTok fast…
3. Keep Your Videos Short & Sweet
According to the most recent data, TikTok states that the optimal length for videos for businesses is 21-34 seconds long.
The rule of thumb we try to stick when creating ALL of our short-form videos is keep it 30-seconds or less.
TikTok also gives this awesome checklist to keep in mind when creating your videos, which I think is great…
- Is your messaging clear and concise?
- Are you clearly stating your business and/or product name?
- Are you using at least one of the messaging tactics below:
- Voice-over
- Speaking directly to camera
- Text overlays
- Does the video include a clear call to action?
- Does the CTA align with your ad objective?
And of course, as with ANY video or piece of content you put out there…
You want to make sure that your HOOK – or the first 3 seconds of your video is super juicy and opens a loop to keep them watching.
It might be helpful to actually WRITE OUT A SCRIPT in the beginning if you’re just getting started.
This will help you keep you from rambling and make sure you stay on point.

Alright, so we’ve talked about:

There are two more things to keep in mind if you want to grow on TikTok fast…
4. Use Keywords & Relevant Hashtags
Remember when hashtags used to be AMAZING for getting discovered on instagram and now they’re kind of just “meh”?
Well on TikTok, using keywords and hashtags is the BEST way to get the right people to find your content.
And what’s even crazier is that TikTok has an AMAZING keyword and topic researcher built right in to it’s app.
All you have to do is start typing…
And all these keywords pop up.
And then it goes one step further and shows you the related terms people are searching for…
You can see EXACTLY what people are searching for without having to use dozens of other research analyzer tools.
This feature is AMAZING and makes it so much easier to create and post relevant content that your ideal audience will actually FIND.
None of the other social media platforms compare to this.
Alright, now the last tip for growing fast on TikTok…
I saved this one for last because, well, you’re not going to like it lol…
5. Post A LOT
Ugggggghhhhhhhh. I know.
I can’t hear your cringe and see your eye roll from here!
I know this is a tip you see for ALL social media platforms…
But it’s even more important when it comes to TikTok because of the way it’s algorithm works. It SEEMS to prioritize and push new content more.
TikTok recommends posting one to four times per day.
Which is A LOT.
Probably too much for the average creator or business owner – especially in the beginning.
So just post as much as you can. aiming for 3-5 times per week.
And I know I’ve got more bonus tip for you…
BONUS TIP: Be Yourself & Have Fun
The cool thing about TikTok is that it’s not just about “niching down”.
It’s about being buttoned up and professional…
It’s not about putting yourself into a box.
It’s not about ONLY sharing “valuable” content in the form of “X Tips To Help You XYZ”…
People are ultimately on TikTok connect with new people & find a tribe they vibe with.
The TikTok 2024 trend report recommends that brands proudly spotlight what makes them unique and celebrate their culture, because this is what resonates with TikTok’s audience.
The most popular content on TikTok is playful and unpredictable…
So be YOU, be WEIRD, be SILLY, break the rules and have some fun!
