And all I did was send out five emails over the course of two days.

In this video, I’m going to show every single promo email I sent, the stats on each one, and I’ll tell you how you can get your hands on 3 different Promotion Frameworks that you can follow to boost your email income all year long.

Now, before we dive in and start dissecting each email.

There’s something you HAVE to understand first.

In order for ANY email promotion to be successful, you HAVE to have a good and compelling “reason why”. That’s the first step. 

More specifically, you must be able to answer the question.

WHY are you running this promotion or sale?

And WHY is it limited?

This is key to selling easily and running a successful campaign. 

As I like to say, “Give a reason why, and it’s more likely to fly.

Why? Because giving a reason for a discount or special offer makes it more exciting AND believable to your customer.

The “reason why” I ran this 48-hour Flash Sale was my birthday.

But not just any birthday. My 40th birthday! And to celebrate, I decided to run a 40% off sale on all my mini courses and challenges, for 40 hours only!

But it gets even better.

Because I ALSO used this milestone as an opportunity to completely revamp my brand, complete with a whole new website.

So running a 40% off sale for 40 hours was a fun way to not only celebrate my 40th birthday – but to ALSO celebrate the reveal of my brand-new website and drive more traffic to the new site. 

So fun, right?!

Now, the next thing you need to understand about this promotion is that a 48-hour flash sale like this typically works best for low-ticket offers – about $100 and under. 

That’s because the nature of the sale encourages impulsivity and fast action.

The lower priced the offer, the more likely people are to act on it.

3 of the offers on my website fell into this category and 2 of them are almost double that amount.

Keep in mind these are the regular prices people were seeing BEFORE the 40% off discount was applied.

Alright, now that you have context behind the campaign.

Are you ready to see the emails I sent as part of my Flash Sale?!

Email #1 

The very first email you send in any campaign USUALLY gets the most engagement in terms of opens and clicks, so you always want to make that first email COUNT. 

And this promotion was no exception.

You can see we have a 2.5% CTR here. 

We kept this email super short, only focusing on the BIG THING.

Which is new brand website REVEAL and special 40% off promotion.

Now because this email was pretty image heavy (probably the MOST image heavy email I’ve ever sent), we weren’t sure if it would inbox OR if my readers would be as engaged.

You might be wondering WHY we did this. Well, it was actually pretty strategic.  Not only because we wanted to visually “reveal” our new brand, but also because we wanted to use a lot of promotional language in the email that would typically hurt our inbox placement.

By including those words in the IMAGES instead of text, we hoped it would increase our chances of inboxing and it worked!

Of course, I wouldn’t do this for every single email I send, but when you have a big announcement or promotion to announce, this works well.

Now for email #2.

Email #2 

In this email, we basically communicated the exact same thing as the first email. But instead of doing it through imagery and big bold headlines.

We did it in a more traditional long, text-heavy format 

In the P.S. line we also added some social proof – which is always a good idea when running promotions. 

You can see the open rate and the CTR on this one went down considerably compared to Email #1.

This is exactly why that very first email is SO IMPORTANT. 

Ok, moving on to day 2 of the campaign.

Email #3

We made this a super short, what I call “Click Magnet” email and this time we included a fun GIF with “40% off ends tonight”.

Again – this is just a clever way of avoiding using those promotional words in the email text itself.

We have one hyperlink and one button and a P.S. line that is again reminding them this offer disappears tonight.

So simple. So easy. 

And you can see here we have a very similar CTR to email #2. 

Now for the second email we sent out on Day 2.

Email #4

Now we’re using a longer-form, more storytelling-type email.

These are the emails I’m most known for and MOST of my promotions include a lot of longer emails like this.

A 48-hour flash sale promo is different, though. 

Because remember – the point is to get people to act fast. Not necessarily to build trust, speak to pain points or even to promise a transformation, especially because this promotion wasn’t for ONE particular program, it was a discount on all my mini courses and challenges.

Shorter emails work better to inspire action – which is why the majority of these emails are super short, direct and to the point. 

HOWEVER, I still wanted to include at least one longer, storytelling email because this sale and rebrand really DID mean a lot to me.

It signified a big evolution in my life and my business.

And even if this email didn’t bring in as many sales, I really wanted to share what this new era meant for me. 

We aren’t pushing the sale much at all here. In this entire email, we only include one hyperlink to my main website, one hyperlink to my programs page, and one button. 

Of course we did still get a few clicks here, but this is the lowest CTR out of all the emails, not surprisingly. But those people who did click were highly engaged. 

And then we ended the promotion with one final email.

Email #5

This is my classic last call email, which basically says “only a few hours left to claim this discount.” 

You can see I just listed out each mini course and challenge, slashed out the original price, and included the 40% off price.

Linked to the programs page at the end and that’s it!

Our CTR on this last email jumped up a tiny bit from email #4 but at this point, you can expect CTR to be the lowest of the campaign, but sales to be the highest.

So there you have it, my 48-hour flash sale – email by email! Try it out sometime and let me know how it goes.

While this wasn’t as big as my regular promotions, it was fast, simple and a really effective way to get a quick cash injection. 

JUST REMEMBER, in order to make your own 48-hour Flash Sale as successful as possible.

You need to make it BELIEVABLE in the minds of your prospects. And how do you do that? Yep – by giving a reason WHY. And “because I need to make money” is NOT a good reason. 

It sounds simple enough yet so many marketers forget this or just don’t take the time to PLAN their email marketing calendar in advance.
