#5 ā AI Professional
PLOT TWIST.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is actually increasing jobs for freelancers ā not eliminating them.
Businesses need people who SPECIALIZE in this new technology and can help them better understand and implement it into their brands and businesses.
Some businesses are looking for AI engineers who use AI and machine learning techniques to develop applications and systems to help increase efficiency, cut costs, increase profits, and make better business decisions.
This career is in HIGH demand and the average earning rate for AI professionals on Upwork is $35 to $60 per hour.
But Iām sure we can all agree that unless you have some nerdy tech skills and know a lot about computers, data, information research, code, and moreā¦
This MIGHT not be the right gig for youā¦
However, AI-related roles are in high demand across the board, like AI Writing, for example, which is someone with copywriting skills to has learned to use AI to produce highly relevant, engaging and compelling messaging.
According to these Upwork profiles, you can make anywhere from $15-$150/hour as an AI writer.
Moving on toā¦
#4 ā Videographer
Shout out to my BRO, who is the amazing videographer behind all of my short-form content on social media!!!
Videographers do exactly what it sounds like. They film and edit HIGH-QUALITY videos.
Sure, there are plenty of tools and apps that allow most people to film and edit their own videosā¦
But the quality is almost never as high as when a videographer does it.
Thatās because not only do videographers invest in PROFESSIONAL equipment. They spend ALL their time learning and expanding their video skills and knowledge. They understand storytelling, timing and composition.
Now, not all videographers will work on social media contentā¦ Professional videographers also film and edit videos for weddings, seminars, parties, and so much more.
The median salary for videographers on Upwork hovers between $10 and $53 per hour.
And #3ā¦
#3 ā Project Manager
As more and more people start and grow online businesses, more and more project managers are needed to help those business owners meet their deadlines and keep the ship sailing smoothly.
You can think of the project manager as THE GO-TO PERSON for managing all of a companyās tasks, team and resourcesā¦
They should have their hands in planning, managing, and overseeing all projects from ideation to completion.
They might schedule meetings, assign tasks to team members, implement SOPs, follow up on deadlines, and so much moreā¦
Although project management tools ā like Asana ā are helpful for running a businessā¦
Nothing compares to hiring A PERSON who is in charge of overseeing, managing, and ensuring follow-through.
Project managers on Upwork average around $19 to $45 per hour on Upwork.
#2 ā Social Media Manager
Today, ALL businesses really should have a social media presence to allow their customers to follow and engage with them online.
But the thing is, most business owners donāt have the time, energy, or skill to keep up on social mediaā¦
And thatās where this freelancing skill comes in. Social media managers are responsible for managing brand presence online.
This can include:
- Developing strategies to increase reach
- Creating and overseeing social campaigns
- Staying on top of current trends & producing content
- Monitoring metrics ā like engagement level, conversions, and audience building
- And, of course, actively posting and writing social captions!
On Upwork, social media managers earn an average of $14 to $35 an hour.
Alright, now moving on my PERSONAL FAVORITEā¦
And in my opinion, one of the most flexible and easiest ways for ANYONE to earn money onlineā¦
#1 ā Copywriting
YES ā the freelance business I started over a decade agoā¦ copywriting!
The coolest thing about copywriting is that literally ALL businesses around the world need it.
And they need MULTIPLE forms of it ā copy and content.
So, whatās the difference?
Wellā¦ the truth is that the lines between a content writer and a copywriter are getting more and more blurred as things like social media, content marketing, and conversational selling become more popular and more effective.
āOld schoolā marketing isnāt what it used to be. Marketing TODAY is a lot more content than it ever has been beforeā¦
So that means that MOST writers today *need* to be a mix of both content and copywriting in order to be successful.
But with that said, there are a few differences to keep in mindā¦
Content writing is what creates brand loyalty and engagement ā which is essential for businesses these days.
This is usually done through the form of blog posts, articles, social media captions, newsletters, and more.
A content writer should be skilled at conversational and captivating writing. And bonus points if they have a general understanding of how keywords play into SEO.
Content writers on Upwork earn an average of $15-$40/hour.
Now, HOW is copywriting different from content writing?
Copywriting is what businesses lean on when it comes to generating leads, conversions, and sales ā usually through mediums like ads, sales pages, landing pages, sales emails, and even social media captions!
So, copywriters also need to be skilled at conversational and captivating writingā¦
But on top of that, they also need to have an awareness of marketing and an understanding of buyer behavior. Thatās why copywriters earn more than content writers.
Copywriters on Upwork earn an average of $19-$45/hourā¦
But I can tell you from personal experience and the experience of THOUSANDS of my students that the pay rate quickly increases the more experience you get.
In fact, many of my students earn thousands of dollars each month as freelance copywriters.
Now, WHY do I say that writing is one of the BEST and EASIEST ways to make money online?
Because the best and most effective writing ā when it comes to making sales and building trust ā is conversational writing!
